WHO IS AARON RINTOUL?
Who is Aaron Rintoul? Aaron Rintoul has Illustrated numerous comics for California horror publisher Asylum Press and is the Illustrator and author of the critically acclaimed graphic novel and comic series "Masks" from publisher Septagon Studios.
Rintoul has created concept and cover art for film, music and television for clients like Universal Studios and Frantic Films.
Using a blend of surreal photography and digital painting Aaron has brought something truly original to the comic medium.
The Press:
MASKS is very much a feast for the eyes. MASKS is not one for the cape and cowl set, but if you're a fan of SANDMAN and especially the work of Dave McKean and Ben Templesmith, you'll kick yourself if you miss this one.Source: Ain't It Cool News.
Tailor made for those whose comic book tastes are a bit less obvious; for readers who prefer films with subtitles and going to art galleries on the weekend. Fanboys who live on a diet of spandex and multi-part epics-beware. For fans of Dave McKean (frequent Neil Gaiman collaborator) or film-maker Guillermo del Toro (Hellboy, Pan's Labyrinth) writer/artist Aaron Rintoul's debut effort is a class act.Source: Comic Book Jesus.
Rintoul's work is very much high-tech art house poetry. Not constructive in a systematic syntax, but rather highly imagined digitally-painted photography. This is easily in the same family as the efforts of popular comic artist Ben Templesmith, or the Latvian animator Gints Apsits. Like the vividness of dreams, the story is IN the imagery, not so much the words themselves.Source: ComicNews.Info.
Rarely I have read and seen something from an unknown (to me) artist that so effectively moves me and evokes so many emotions. The images are at once beautiful, evocative and haunting. Source: Comics And Other Imaginary Tales.
Masks is a prime example of what an independent graphic tale should be. It sits on the cutting edge, looming over and furrowing it's brow at the regurgitated comics that belch from the mouths of DC and Marvel. Aaron Rintoul and Septagon Studios have the right to be proud. Masks is visually entrancing and the story reads like a poem.Source: Herospy.com
